Wenwen and friends: Just because

As a matter of fact, Wenwen had a very good reason for wanting to do this pictorial. It was her birthday weekend and she wanted to celebrate it by doing a fun photoshoot with her friends.  Wenwen is Deegee's sister, and just as her older sister had the great idea of wearing her bridal gown for her 5th wedding anniversary pictorial, Wenwen wanted this photoshoot to capture "the free spirit, carefree, natural, and fun" lives that she and her friends share through their friendship.  So, what we did was take nice solo shots of each of the girls and then we took a lot of fun group shots. We did the pictorial at the La Mesa Ecopark.  And I have to say, I enjoyed working with these three young girls tremendously! I just wish they'd stop ending their sentences with PO's and OPO's because it made me feel old!:P Hehehe.

La Mesa Ecopark is one of those places that photographers love because there are really nice spots to shoot. I personally love the place because you could find beautiful lighting at any time of the day.  It was actually kinda weird seeing other photographers who were shooting that same day with all these fancy lighting equipment with them when there was delicious light everywhere!

Here's one of the first few shots of the girls. Wenwen is in the middle. With her are Katrina (on the right) and Jo-ann.

We started at around 2:30PM and the sun was still pretty harsh. However, I found this little spot with really pretty light that just made me so giddy.  All photos were shot with 100% natural light. No reflectors. Wish I could bring this kind of light everywhere! This one was my favorite shot of Wenwen.

Another lovely shot of Wenwen.

Kat.

Jo-ann.

We then moved to a different spot.

Another group shot of the lovely girls.

By around 4:30 or 5pm, I felt we were ready to go into the open.  The girls changed into their dresses and we went up the hill leading to the dam. And there I got some of my favorite shots from the day.

Probably my favorite shot of Jo-ann. Love the sun flare!

I love these fun group shots. I actually had a lot of them, but I couldn't possibly fit all of them into one blog entry.

The girls were up for anything.  I'm glad they really seemed to enjoy the pictorial as much as I did.

Lovely!

Mican: Kiddie portrait session

This was the pictorial I did with Mican a few weeks before her 1st birthday party.  We did the session at the UP Diliman Campus on a Saturday morning.  I've done a lot of photoshoots in the campus but there are always new spots to discover everytime I go there, depending on the time of the day.  This was the first time for me to shoot on this particular area. And I love the combination of the golden morning sunlight, the leaves that were starting to turn brown, and the bamboo grass!:)

And Mican was such a darling to shoot too!:)

Mican was so easy to shoot from the very beginning. I think it really helped that she felt she could trust me because she saw that her mum and dad trusted me as well.

Love the bamboo!

Again, love the bamboo!:D

I didn't know which of the following photos I liked best so I decided to just post them all.

Second outfit.

Mican was trying to get hold of my camera.

Hello Kitty had to make an appearance because Mican was having a Hello Kitty-themed party.:)

Still reaching for my camera.:) Love her smile.

Ria: Boudoir photo session

What is boudoir photography? Here's one definition I got on the Internet:

Boudoir photography is a genre of photography that involves female subjects in sexually suggestive or sensual poses. It is distinct from erotic photography in its emphasis on the aesthetic qualities of the subject and the craftsmanship of the photographic process over the sexually stimulating nature of the image.

And another one:

To many, boudoir photography is considered the art of visually capturing beautiful, sensuous and sexy photos of regular women. Age (as long as you are of minimum legal age), how thin, how tall, doesn’t matter. The purpose of boudoir photography is to make women look great.

When Ria asked me if I do boudoir sessions, I told her I have never done one but would love to do it for her. We agreed to look at samples on the web and exchange ideas based on the style of photos that we liked. Ria sent me a link to a website and I was so glad to realize that we had the same vision on how the pictorial should go. I know some people would find these images too clean and wholesome but as the definition above states, I don't think boudoir photos should be confused with sexy photos in men's magazines (Yes, I've seen a lot of boudoir photos that just made me cringe. Hehehe.).  I believe boudoir photos should be more personal. Very personal. I wanted to take sexy and elegant photos that would still reflect Ria's bubbly personality.

Ria wanted to have this session as a surprise for her husband. When she got back to Sweden, she told me that he was very happy with the shots. We did have a lot more photos showing a bit more skin but Ria says her hubby wasn't too comfortable with the idea of them being published here so I have to respect that. I'm actually just so grateful that they let me post the ones below. So, here are the photos that made the cut. (Oh, and if you haven't seen them yet, check out Ria's other portraits first.)

When Ria asked me where we could do the session, I thought of Astoria Plaza right away.  I've done shoots there before, and I know how great the natural light of the rooms are. And more importantly, I know their rates are not as expensive as other hotels.

Again, a big thank you to Ian Lipa for the awesome job on Ria's hair and makeup.

I love these next two because they show how sexy Ria is, even without showing her body.;)

I love these next few shots because Ria's bright personality still shines through--even with just a blanket.:D   And they remind me of how much fun we had during the shoot.  There were just me, Pie, Ian (the make-up artist) in the room with Ria.  All ladies.  So, we made sure Ria was comfortable.  Her hands were shaking the whole time though because she was excited and nervous.  And by the end of the shoot, we were all just laughing about it.

One of my favorites.

Because I had a lot of fun doing Ria's boudoir pictorial, I would love to do more boudoir sessions. If you are interested, please shoot me an email at ging@ginglorenzo.com and we can talk about the schedule. For the next few months, I will be offering an introductory rate for boudoir sessions.:)
