Aquim: 1st birthday party

July 20, 2008
Big Red Barn

I met up with the birthday family just a couple of weeks before the party, but we hit it off right away. Aquim is such a sweet little kid. I loved photographing him during his birthday. His mom and dad (Jolen and Jason) are fun to work with as well. We were able to take great photos before the party started and then after every one had gone home. It didn't hurt that there were nice spots around the venue, either.

Oh, and the party was so much fun. Everybody seemed to have a great time!

Check out some of my favorite images from the event...

Kathryn Anne: Baptism

July 12, 2008
Santuario de San Antonio
Somethin' Fishy

This has been a very very busy month for me so I haven't been able to update this blog as often as I would like to. August is almost over, however, and on one hand I'm really happy because I survived it in one piece. On the other hand, I just realized I haven't even posted most of my events for July! So, before my backlog of entries piles up even more, I will try to post as much as I can this week...starting with Kathryn Anne's baptism last July 12th. Here are some of my favorite shots from that event.

The day didn't start out very well for me. Faye wanted me to take some family photos in their home before proceeding to the church for the baptismal ceremony. However, we got stuck in a terrible traffic jam just a few blocks away from the house. We had no choice but to head on to the church first and just do the pictorial after the reception.

As soon as we got to the baptistry, my luck started to turn. There was no baptism before us, so I had a lot of time to shoot the details right there.

After the ceremony, we drove all the way to Eastwood for the reception. Right in front of the room was this lovely cupcake ensemble.

After the reception, we went back to the family home to finally shoot some family photos. They had this beautiful Egyptian mural right on their living room wall.

I love this photo of Kathryn and her Kuya.

Sofia Antoinette: Portrait session

I photographed the beautiful baptismal celebration for Sofia yesterday. However, since I won't be able to blog about it for at least a couple more weeks, let me share with you the pre-event pictorial we did a few weeks ago instead.

Early morning on the day of the pictorial, Yang (Sofia's mom) texted me asking how the weather was in Q.C. They wanted an outdoor shoot, so it was very important that we had good weather. Unfortunately, it had been raining the previous night so we were worried that we would get rained out. Nevertheless, we still decided to push through with the shoot. Luckily, even though it wasn't exactly a bright day, the rain didn't fall while we were shooting...and we still got really great shots!

We did the photo shoot at the UP Campus. I've done dozens of pictorials there, but with the bad weather, I was forced to seek out alternative spots. I found this lovely red door hidden on one of the buildings. And it had great natural light.:) Here are Sofia with Mommy Yang and Daddy Kiko. (Yes, even during kiddie portrait sessions, I still include the parents in a few of the shots.)

We then moved to one of the benches around the Sunken Garden so Sofia could get her solo shots.

Alexandra Wynonah: 1st bday party

July 6, 2008
Fort Ilocandia

About a month ago, we took a trip all the way up North to photograph this grand celebration. It was such an honor for me to work for such a gracious family. At big events such as this one, you could rarely expect to be able to talk to the host during the party (this is when coordinators come in handy). However, our host Rosemarie (Alexandra's aunt), as well as the whole was very accommodating. Aside from giving us the chance to visit the beautiful Ilocos region and checking us in the grand Fort Ilocandia hotel, they actually sat us down and made us eat dinner right at their table during the party itself! I love my job, but I love it even more when I get to work with wonderful clients.:)

Anyway, on to the photos. We started the shoot at one of the rooms at Fort Ilocandia. I focused on the details while Ces Kasilag (who was my second shooter for the event) shot some candids.

I left Ces (and Pie) to finish up with the preps shoot because I had to go to the ballroom to take photos of the venue set-up. The party had a Disneyland theme, and I think I saw every single Disney character in the decorations.

The colorful set-up! Heart the balloons!:)

The first hour or so of the party was a kiddie program with host clowns who did games and magic. After that, the real party began. It was opened by an AVP, a ballet number and the grand entrance of the birthday family.

The Kasilags: Family portrait session

I know someone has been patiently waiting to see these so here they are.;)

Aside from being great travel companions and tour guides during our trip to Ilocos last month, Ces, Jon and little Franco were also great models.

Here are a few of my favorite shots taken during our two-day trip.:)

These first two were taken at the Syquia Mansion, which was one of our first stops in Vigan.

I saw this lovely green door along Calle Crisologo and I knew we had to use it. I love this fun series.

Finally, at the Fort Ilocandia just moments before we left. They are wearing matching shirts bearing Jon's company's logo. They had been wanting to take these portraits since day one of our trip.:)

This was my favorite shot of Franco.:)
